So, the time has come to vote for LJ Idol entries! Votes are due tomorrow at 3PM Eastern Time.

This week's topic was "Playing House." I wrote a creepy little comic about a little boy who gets dared to go to a "haunted" house. You can read it here.

Here are a few of my favorites from this week:

notbatman wrote a photoessay about squatter's abodes. Read it here!

tamaraland wrote about the Nude Handyman she once hired. Read it here!

kittenboo wrote about her son's strange attachment to her mole. Read it here!

java_fiend wrote about what it means to have a truly obsessive mother. Read it here!

talon wrote a piece of creepy sci-fi suspense fiction. Read it here!

intrepia wrote about changing the world, one person at a time, Read it here!

strryeyedgrrl wrote personal narrative about the importance of childhood toys and mismatched priorities. Read it here!

I also just want to say that of this group, intrepia and talon have both consistently wrote some of my favorite pieces, and they're both not doing great in the polls this week. I'm not saying to stack the deck, but please try to given them a read and a vote if you agree.

Plus, there is a bonus piece that I am not counting as an official rec because I recced her last week, but rattsu's post this week is just too good to pass up. She took some photos of a creepy doll, and then added some writing that makes those photos EVEN CREEPIER.

I think you've linked to the wrong poll. This one's closed and includes hexkitten and boiconfessed.

WHOOPS! thank you!

Should be fixed now!

thank you for the rec, that is very nice!

You're welcome, I really enjoyed yours this week! It was so cute!

Thanks for the mention - the 'tea-rec-effect' seems to have joined the furzicle-shoutout in, well, saving my behind. At least for now.

But I am truly glad you enjoyed the piece :)

I hope it continues to do so! You constantly surprise me with new stuff, so I want to see what you come up with every week!

Haha, you know what's funny? I have actually LOST a vote since I posted my recs, and not gained any!

Someone doesn't like you rec'ing people? :P

That totally sucks! :(

I always worry a little about the backlash of posting recs. I have grown fond of the whole group of writers and what they have to say, so picking recs is hard, and isn't intended to be a smackdown to those I don't recommend! Of course, as the group grows smaller, I can also see how picking recs could create more tension and divide people.

Oh, I kind of doubt it was actually backlash to the rec list! I think it was more likely someone jockeying for position, who was close to where I was and wanted to try to beat me or something like that? I think the people who don't vote based on recs are already not voting for me at this point! My point was more that posting a poll to my journal really does very little to affect my standing in the polls.

I try really hard to rec people whom I haven't recced before. I have a standing rule that no one gets recced two weeks in a row unless it's something really outstanding, like Beth's this week, and I also try to rec people who are lower down in the polls. I think that's a fair way to do it and I feel like part of reccing is going to be personal taste and everyone knows that. I like certain things more than others and I assume the same is true when other people rec!

*grins* I have yet to reach that point of competitiveness about the top of the polls. And yeah, posting the poll to my LJ does not garner me the huge fell swoop of votes that one would wish for. :P

I just came across this and wanted to say "Thanks" for the props. :)

Awwwwwwww... thanks for the rec, Tea. I really appreciate that. :-)
