This Week's Drink: Dewdrop
cap, captain miss america
Crossposted to waltz_time, in a little while when I have time!

For two drinks:

1/2 cucumber or a small cucumber
Juice from 1 lime
1/2 oz lavender simple syrup
About 20 leaves of mixed sage
5 oz Hendrick's Gin

Chill 2 martini glasses
Put ice in shaker
Set aside 2 whole, nice sage leaves
Slice off two neat slices of cucumber and set aside.
Chop remaining cucumber coarsely and add to shaker
Add lime juice and muddle until seeds separate from cucumber flesh
Roll sage between palms to release oils
Add simple syrup and sage
Muddle again
Add gin

Pour. Add cucumber slice and sage leaf to each glass for garnish.

I should have made this with Rosemary, and called it a Dilly Dilly. I will do that next week. Oh, wait, no! I will be in New York next week. So no drink.

My mom and I went shopping today and I got to meet the guys who make her furniture. They make furniture out of reclaimed barnwood and she's pretty much gotten half of what's in the house from them. They were really nice.

I have been working on a new novel thanks to kandigurl and her writing challenge, and it's about 60 pages now. It's a teen fantasy thing, emphasis more on the teen than the fantasy. If anyone is interested in taking a stab at reading, let me know, although I'm likely only to hand it out to a couple people so don't be offended if I don't choose you.

I think tomorrow is the last day of the tarot_week spotlight, and it's my first day writing an article with a really big community. I am a little nervous-- a lot of people with a lot more experience than me have signed up for the community. I really made it so I would learn the cards better, so I don't pretend to be an expert genius about this stuff, but I think I know it pretty well, and I'm sort of worried people will just laugh at my analyses. But I'm also kind of excited to see the kind of discussion and questions it raises!

(a) I would love to read the new novel -- in fact, there's one I'm working on that I would like to have a reader for, so if you want to do an exchange that would be cool. (Or not; I won't be at all offended if you're not into that!) It's fantasy featuring teens, although probably not YA, necessarily. Do you have my e-mail?

(b) Your tarot_week post will be awesome -- I've learned so much from the past few. And if people have things to add, then that's fantastic. I very much doubt that anybody will laugh at your analyses. :)

I would love to trade-- although the caveat is that I am a very slow reader. I am a very good, careful reader, but incredibly slow. Shoot me a PM and we can discuss?

Did anything ever happen with your first novel? I still love it, and would love even more to see it on a bookstore shelf some day.

If you don't mind it taking me a while to get back with you, it'd be exciting to see what you're working on now!

It is still sitting on my computer. I sent it to several agents but only got rejections so far. I started working on heavily rewriting it based on the advice of one agent, but haven't gotten so far with it.

And I don't mind! PM me your email?

It might take me a while because I've got a lot on my plate at the moment, but I'd be curious about reading your novel if you're happy to share it with me :)
