You’re not a Snowman, you’re a Snowchicken, Boo!
cap, captain miss america

I got up this morning and came downstairs to discover that my mother was out in the snow.  “What is she doing?” I asked my father. “Building a snowman.”

“I wouldn’t say that,” said my father.

That is because she was building this:

So that is pretty awesome!

Also, I wanted to share something that my friend [info]serpentpixie made.  She made a video for her creative writing class that is just incredibly poetic and poignant and I love it. It is really inspiring me to think about ways I think about writing and multimedia.  Her LJ is mostly friends-only but she gave me permission to re-post the video so I could share it with you all!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

HOLY SHIT that is a damn good snow chicken!!

My mom is amazing at this. When I was a kid, we had snow Smurfs, snow Cabbage Patch Kids, Snow Strawberry Shortcake, snow dinosaurs, and a few years ago we did a Snow Spongebob, but he fell down before I got a picture.

She really is! And that is an amazing idea. I just told my mom. I am trying to think of how that would work without being too much like other stories about snow-creatures!

Awesome chicken is awesome!

But that video made me tear up. Seriously. So poetic. So poignant. Every line just perfect.

I feel moved. Touched. As if I had lost something I never quite managed to remember.

But I do remember the smell of home.

Thank you so much for posting this Tea, and tell your friend that it was AWESOME.

serpentpixie is on my friendslist so I hope she will see your nice comments.

And the chicken is awesome! I love my mommy.

And just finished watching the video. I know what you mean about making you rethink the relationship between writing and multimedia, it's like a poem which seemlessly integrates images as lines of the poem.

Yeah, the pictures are part of the story. It doesn't hurt that it's well-written, but I feel like the pacing and music and images just make it a different thing completely.

that is one very impressive snow chicken. ^_~

It is! It is laying snow eggs that will hatch snow chicks.

also thank you for the ballooooons~ <3

You are welcome! And it is awesome!

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it. Of course, I've seen slideshows with words set to music, but this sort of transcends that.

And I do like me some snow chicken.

Snow chicken is awesome!

And the video...poignant. I love the music choice.

I do, too. When I was watching it, my mom asked me what I was listening to.

That is the best snow creature I've ever seen and it is even more awesome because it is a chicken. :D

I do think the chicken part really raises it up in status from merely awesome to super awesome.

THAT IS A FANTASTIC SNOW CHICKEN!!! I love, love, love it! How much snow did you guys end up getting up there?

We got about eight inches total, but most of it melted today. There were actually 20 inches in the city!

AWESOME SNOWCHICKEN! This makes me sad about getting almost no snow this winters, no snowchickens for me.

Aw, I'm sorry! This is the first time this winter we've had good packing snow, although it's the third time we've had a nice good blanket of it. But there is enough snowchicken for everyone!

Oh my God, that's incredible!! Coming from someone who has never yet managed more than a snow -lump- WOW!

My mother has been doing snow sculptures since I was a kid-- there's been Strawberry Shortcake, Smurfs, ET, a Cabbage Patch Kid, dinosaurs, football players-- a few years ago we built Spongebob Squarepants but he fell down before we got a photo.

Love the snow chicken.

Love the video. It's fabulous.

I love the snow chicken too! My mommy is the best.

The snow chicken is absolutely wonderful :)

I want the chicken. Does it have an actual name?

Umm, there is only one thing I call chickens and that is Pepita. Because that is the name of my chicken-fairy-princess roleplaying character.
