A Thanksgiving Aperitif: Maple Kiss
cap, captain miss america

I don’t often mix aperitif cocktails, but I thought it would be nice to do something that would go well with a pecan or pumpkin pie. This is a very simple drink, sweet, and spicy, meant to be sipped at room temperature.

Ingredients for six drinks
4 1/2 oz Sortilege Maple Whiskey
4 1/2 oz Averna Amaro
4 dashes per drink Fee Brothers Whiskey Barrel Bitters

1) Mix the Sortilege and the Averna in a small pitcher with a wooden spoon
2) Pour into small aperitif glasses
3) Add bitters to each drink

I'm blown away and impressed that maple-flavored alcohol exists.

That sounds delicious - I love maple syrup! If only I could find those ingredients, i'll keep my eye out.

Random question - do you know of any delicious cocktails that are bright pink? or bright green? But whilst still tasting nice and not full of strange chemicals.

Bright pink I can definitely do. Mixing gin, light rum, or vodka with pink lemonade and a tiny bit of grenadine will make a pink drink that is going to be very sweet but not totally noxious. It's not a drink that I would normally mix but it's good as a party drink when you have a lot of people who don't like fancier cocktails.

You can mix your own pink lemonade with less sugar (make it pink with cranberry or raspberry juice) and add a touch of creme de violette (violet flavored) or orange liqueur like cointreau, triple sec, or citronge to make a slightly more sophisticated pink drink.
