One of the guests at our dinner party last night was a girl I'd never met before who is around my age, and it was fun because she came into the kitchen and watched me make cocktails, and then I took her up to see the bees. People either want to see the bees or they want to stay far away from the bees. The rule of thumb is that if you want to stay far away from the bees, you should, because the bees will sense your dislike of them and get defensive. She got about five feet away from the hive, which is pretty good for a first-timer. The bees were winding down their day when we got up there, but then a bunch of them came out to say hello. And she asked what the bees do inside the hive, so I took her in the stable (it's not really a stable, but the building we use as a gardening shed and sugar shack) to show her some spare frames.
It also sounds like we're getting our chickens soon, which is exciting!
Anyway, boo to throat crud. I'm trying to decide whether to go back to sleep or take a shower. Both sound promising.
