Song Lyrics
cap, captain miss america
teaberryblue
I wrote a poem this morning again, but it's intensely personal, about a thing that happened yesterday, and I kind of want to keep it a tiny secret to myself for now. (Yes, it was good. But the kind of good you want to hold in your hand like a small jewel and let it build up warmth.)

Anyway, in lieu of reading my poem about yesterday, I wanted to direct your attention back to this entry from a while back: The Truth About Music.

I have been playing with the song from that dream now for a while and I rearranged some of the lyrics and added more and now I have a complete song.

Warning for puns and silly references and metaphors all over the place.

You can stoke my fire
till the flames rise higher and higher
And I want to light your candle but you know it's not that simple

Your charge is electric
You make my heartbeat go hectic
And I want to match your measure
But you don't convert to metric

Stop before you begin it
Cause you know that's not my style
Give me a minute
And I'll want to take a mile

And I keep rattling on
Like a train that's been and gone
But someday maybe I'll come rattling back
Cause you're the only thing that stops me in my tracks

I was fragile as a sparrow
And you played the straight and narrow
But I didn't dream the night I pushed you home in a wheelbarrow, so now

History's repeating
And my sanity's receding
I just want to watch you undress
But I'm staring at my regrets

Don't give me permission
Cause you know that's not my style
Please revoke my license
I can't help but drive you wild

And I keep rattling on
Like a train that's been and gone
But someday maybe I'll come rattling back
Cause you're the only thing that stops me in my tracks

Things were getting flirty
And you know my mind is dirty
But you fuck like you're reciting
ABCs and my type's QWERTY

I expected revelation
From the mark upon your head
But you sure can babble on
Till all four horses are dead

Don't ask for forgiveness
Cause you know that's not my style
I'm just clawing toward the surface
While you're drowning in denial

And I keep rattling on
Like a train that's been and gone
But someday maybe I'll come rattling back
Cause you're the only thing that stops me in my tracks

Yeah you're the only thing
That makes me want to stop rattling
But you just can't build up steam
Enough to wind up my last spring

So when I pass Folsom Prison
I might open your cell door
if you could only stop saying
That you've heard this all before

And I keep rattling on
Like a train that's been and gone
But someday maybe I'll come rattling back
Cause you're the only thing that stops me in my tracks

If I were one step closer I could start dancing.

Hahaha, I have a sound file of myself singing it.

<3 Just wanted to say I'm really enjoying all your words recently :D

<3 I'm really happy to be writing a lot recently. It is making me feel more present in the world. Thank you!
